  5:00 pm - 7:30 pm - Check-in and Orientation
There is no charge for this afternoon. Students will have an opportunity to meet each other, meet the instructors, get familiar with the Music Academy location and rehearsal halls, borrow instruments (if necessary), make final decisions on classes they will attend, and attempt to resolve logistical problems.
Tuesday, August 9 through Saturday, August 13
  Daily Schedule
    Instrument Classes:
There will be a division in the Instrument classes between experienced and beginner students. Each of these morning group classes is 1½ hours long. Beginners classes will begin at 9:00 am and experienced classes will begin at 10:30 am. For example, a student may choose to take the beginner Tambura class followed by the experienced Gudulka class. In the afternoon there will be individual and/or small group instrument classes lasting 30 minutes each. We suggest that you bring your favorite instrument to class, but, if you do not have one, or it is too difficult transport, the Academy will make arrangements for loaner instruments.
    Singing Classes:
There will be two group singing classes in the morning, each 1½ long, and each class will focus on a different regional style. As with the Instrumental classes, afternoon singing classes, which will last for 30 minutes each, will be for either individuals or small groups.

    Dance Classes:
There will be two group dance classes each morning, each 1½ hours long (9:00 am -10:30 am & 10:45 am - 12:15pm), and two group dance classes each afternoon also 1½ hours long (3:15 pm -4:45 pm & 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm). Material from two folklore regions will be presented each weekday except for Saturday which will be entirely dedicated to Pirin (Macedonia). At this point we are not planning to make distinctions between beginner and experienced dance classes. A typical weekday might have Thracian dance in the first morning session, followed by a Shope dance session in the second morning session and in the afternoon there would be Thracian dance in the first afternoon session and Shope dance in the second afternoon session. Currently plans are to present dance from Shopluk, Thrace, Pirin (Macedonia), North Bulgaria, and Dobrudzha.

    Language Classes:
A one hour conversational Bulgarian language class will be conducted immediately after the lunch break (12-2).
